Arabic souks (markets) are sensory experiences — colorful spices, fresh produce, and lively bargaining.
In this lesson, you'll learn to ask prices, bargain, and buy items at the market.
Bargaining is an art and a social activity in Arab markets!
Bargaining (المساومة) is expected and enjoyed in traditional souks. Start at about 50-60% of the asking price. The vendor will offer tea — this is normal and not an obligation to buy. Don't bargain in supermarkets or shops with fixed prices.
